decades ago. cbs 5 reporter anne makovec has new clues in the case. >> reporter: her mother wrote on her facebook page last night, dear michaela, this could be in. she is talking about a bone fragment that was found. they tested it here at the hayward police department. the results were inconclusive. that bone now being sent to a lab in virginia. the results could take weeks. but there are some reasons to believe that that bone fragment could belong to michaela garecht. she was abducted in hayward in 1988. that bone was initially given to the family of another victim, joann hobson's remains found in a well in linden, a well where remains from victims of two serial killers dubbed the "speed freak" killers have been found. that was back in february. when hobson's family received the remains, they ordered some tests, suspicious after seeing investigators dig up the burial site with a backhoe. that testing found 28 of the bone fragments given to the family belonged to other people. at least three other people, including a child between the ages of 5 and 14. michaela was 9 when she disappeare

we are going right to cbs 5 reporter cate caugiran on the scene with the very latest. cate what can you tell us. >> reporter: i can tell you that the fire started in the squat and gobble popular restaurant here in san francisco. crews are busy battling flames. there's heavy smoke in the air. this restaurant is completely gutted. it is a complete loss for the building here. i can see already dozens of firefighters here on scene trying to tackle this fire. they have been at it for quite a while. crews say that they got the call right at around 4:00, 4:14 this morning and the fire quickly grew to three alarms. flames were shooting up as high as 10 to 20 feet. heavy smoke in the area and now they have set up a perimeter here along west portal. they have shut down as i was talking about that tunnel over here now. as far as the firefighting efforts are concerned, we are about to get an update from the public information officer to learn more. what i can tell you right now is there are a lot of confused people out here especially morning commuters as they are trying to figure out alternati

in an antiwar rally march and probing windows splashed buildings with paint and more. cbs 5 reporter elissa harrington now in downtown oakland to show us some of the damage on this monday. >> reporter: good morning. a broken bottle on the ground paint splashed on the glass and just about every, single window broken. other buildings suffered similar damage including city hall following an antiwar rally. about 200 demonstrators met at frank ogawa plaza for a march through downtown to mark the 11th anniversary of the start of the war in afghanistan. by 8:15 they dispersed. then there was vandalism on various buildings in the area. oakland residents are fed up with this type of behavior that costs the city money. >> it doesn't make any sense. the bank doesn't have anything to do with the war. oakland has enough budget problems that this creates more problems in oakland when oakland is not the place make the decisions. they need to gowashington or to go to washington or other areas. >> reporter: there is a lot of clean-up to do. elissa harrington, cbs 5. >>> police in san francisco arresting 20

, though. he is flying out of sfo early this morning. and cbs 5 reporter cate caugiran is here in san francisco where the president has raised a lot of campaign cash. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. this was president obama's last fundraising blitz here in the bay area. but a successful one. he is expected to take home about $2 million to his campaign. now, crowds greeted president obama's arrival at sfo yesterday. at his events he told bay area supporters to get, quote, almost obsessive about his re- election. he attended two fundraisers a private $20,000 a plate dinner and a concert at the graham auditorium. the president asked supporters to help him finish what he started four years ago and mr. obama roused the crowd with his own big bird jokes. >> finally somebody is cracking down on big bird. elmo has been seen in a white suburban, he is driving for the border. governor romney's plan is to let wall street run wild again but he is going to bring the hammer down on sesame street. >> reporter: now, these jokes started after governor romney promised cuts to unnecessary spend

city. >> firefighter injured, several businesses damage at a strip mall there. and cbs 5 reporter cate caugiran joins us. cate, i hear those business owners have got some tough news this morning, right? >> reporter: yes, that's right. i actually spoke to a couple of them still here sort of watching firefighters. as you can see, they are on scene hosing down making sure there are no hot spots. and that everything is in fact all clear but it is going to be a long day of clean-up for firefighters and these business owners after that massive fire tore through about 10 businesses. >> a master by called about 1:05 this morning and crews were it spread really quickly. firefighters tried to keep their work going and thatic came crashing down. i spoke with a couple of business owners standing by and they say it wasn't already tough economic times, this makes it worse. >> when i came here, i saw the fire at the corner and then spread from this side up to that side. >> as a precaution, firefighters evacuated a nearby apartment complex. but we hear that they are all back home right now. we heard
